Gettin' Higher Choir
The Gettin' Higher Choir sings out the simple philosophy that singing is our birthright; an essential activity for personal and community health and vitality. This "come as you are" choir brings together a diverse group of over two hundred singers, who are re-discovering the joy of singing.

Established in Victoria in 1996, the choir now has about 300 members who come one or more of three evenings each week. We welcome new members. There is no audition, and no singing experience is required just a desire to sing in harmony with others.

The choir is not associated with any religion or spiritual path, but seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity's highest aspirations through music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures.

The Gettin' Higher Choir seeks to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of songs from many cultures, traditional and new, with meaningful and relevant content, mainly a capella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony.

There are three chapters of the choir, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Each night sings the same material. Choose the one night that works best for you.

SUMMER 2003 DROP-IN SESSIONS:
As in past summers we will be having summer drop-in sessions at the Church of Truth, 111 Superior St, Victoria. They will run every Tuesday in July and August, and on the three Tuesdays in September prior to the start of the regular session on the week of Sept.22. These are a great way to introduce yourself and friends to what the choir is all about.

The cost is two twoonies per session ($4). Denis will be there on July 22 and 29, August 5 and 19, and the early Tuesdays in September. )Shivon may also be at a couple of those Tuesdays, although her schedule is not confirmed)

On the dates when Denis and/or Shivon are not there, some of the members of the choir will be organizing the evenings so that choir members can introduce songs, lead songs, and generally try their hand!
