"There are people who take past personal tragedy and construct a life of victimhood for themselves. And there are people like guitarist and composer Ernie Day who turn their past pain into beautiful music and triumph over their sorrow...Her guitar is her soul mate, something that lets her articulate her personality, her feelings and her story without words. Over the next few months Day will play in various communities, helping to raise money for transition houses all over B.C. It's a way, she says, of giving something back to a system that helped her, of raising money to ensure that counsellors are available to other women in need. By May of next year, Day hopes to pack her guitar onto her Honda Gold Wing and head across Canada playing festivals and shows. " Lynn Welburn, Nanaimo Daily News, 11/01/02 |
