Takin' Care of Business, These Eyes and Let It Ride are among the many hits recorded over the years by Randy Bachman, the songwriter-guitarist of Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive fame.
A native of Winnipeg, Randy formed the Guess Who in 1965. His first big hit was Shakin' All Over, followed by These Eyes and several other huge hits, products of a great Canadian music writing team, Bachman and Burton Cummings.
By 1970 the Guess Who had sold more records than the entire Canadian recording industry to that point, even outselling the Beatles that year. Randy left the Guess Who in 1970 and formed a band called Brave Belt.
Two years later, after some personnel changes, Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) was formed and went on to record several international hits, including Blue Collar, Let It Ride, You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet and Hey You.
The Randy Bachman Song Book CD offers some of the best of theGuess Who and BTO. It was recorded on Salt Spring by the Randy Bachman Band.
The Guess Who made a comeback in 2000, doing a Canadian tour and recording a double CD. Randy now makes his home on Salt Spring Island.
