Ric Lafontaine

Ric has 5 cds to his credit spanning a career that began in 1988.

Ric's first cd ‘the Wind Gone Mad,' released in fall 2000, is regarded by many songwriters and fans to be a benchmark in writing. His music reflects the free and independent spirit of the west coast. His songs paint pictures of stones skipping on the water and of his heroes dancing to the moon.

In the Spring of 2002, Ric released a 2nd cd ' magic garbage can' with his wife and partner, Elly Parker. Inspired by their combined family of 7 children, and 10 grand children, the album is filled with colorful characters like Baby Mumbles, Peggy, Dolly Katie and the Grumpies; all learning a few of  life's lessons. Like Ric and Elly, the songs celebrate life in a magical way. It sold out and was re-released in 2004 with an additional live track of the popular 'Michael' song.

'Ball of Flames' released in 2005 has Ric's thumb prints all over it! Recorded in 3 studios, this recording combines some of his early works with new songs in a fiery mosaic. There's an interesting blend of new arrangements mixed with some of the old keyboard technology he used in the early 90's.

'Long Road In Time' released May 15, 2007 is a softer more mellow CD showcasing Ric the performer. The songs span from 1989 to 2005. A highlight is the title track 'Long Road In Time' which is co-written and sung by his partner Elly Parker.
' Magic Garbage Can Acoustic ' has long been awaited by fans. This recording released June 15th, 2007 is what you hear at a Ric and Elly concert.

Ric Lafontaine the Wind Gone Mad

Ric Lafontaine has a west coast sound reflecting the free and independent spirit of Vancouver Island. His songs are reminiscent of Cat Stevens but with the flavor of a seasoned fisherman. His music paints pictures of faeries dancing on water and eagles soaring on one wing. Like a weaver, confident of his craft, Ric takes contemporary themes and transforms them into mystical moments. From his minstrel's bag, he pulls out a melody and a word and takes the listener on a magic carpet ride. Skip a stone on the water and then dance to the moon. Take a pilgrimage and spend some moments with this free-spirited storyteller

In the tradition of ‘the Fables of La Fontaine,’ the album is filled with colorful characters faced with some of life’s challenges. Like Ric and Elly, the songs celebrate life in a magical way.

REVIEWS
We love that new CD. Its fantastic - start to finish. Ally is particulary partial to 'Dr. Muffin', the elephant song and 'Peggy's on the Go'. I love the 'grumpies' and most of all the rain song. The messages are clear and fun without preaching. Ally is going to be psyched for next live performance - let us know about any dates. Take care. Peter Harris

Your collaborative children's CD is truly MAGIC!

"I wish it was widely available, so children could enjoy their childhoods again in innocence and wonder. The families who can hear and buy a copy are indeed lucky. I can't say enough good things about it, except I want two more copies for the children of a niece and a nephew."
