Celtic Harp for Christmas

This album remains a top seller for its distribution companies Canada-wide. Regularly heard in December on CBC Radio, the CD features harp, flutes, cello and bells playing a hauntingly beautiful collection of well-known and medieval carols.

Inspired by the peace and joy of the Christmas season, the tinsel and stark commercialism are stripped away and what is left is a celebration of birth — a celebration of light. Throughout time immemorial, people of numerous cultures and backgrounds have gathered together in the darkest time of year to stave off the darkness and welcome the light. When thinking of Christmas, I often recall our North American tradition with its snow-covered fields and forests and the sounds of church bells ringing out over the frozen land. Above the twilight-blue snow, high in the evening sky, stars glisten like ice. Inside candlelit churches, choirs rejoice. May this music reflect the reverence, peace and mystery of this season.

Celtic Harp Of Dreams

Poetic music inspired by first snow, friendships and loves that could have been, landscapes, ancient Greece and distant shores. "The water is wide, I can't cross o're, neither have I the wings to fly. Build me a boat to carry two and I will row, my love and I."

Winter Harp
Christmas Night

Winter Harp members spent considerable time researching music for this album -- to find beautiful, rarely-heard carols which they recorded intermingled with well-loved favorites. The album opens with a haunting Celtic ballad. The spirited song relates the legend of three mysterious ships that appear on the sea on Christmas Day. The album closes with a centuries-old Gaelic melody about a magical star-lit Christmas night. Throughout the album, medieval, Spanish and Celtic carols mix with all-time favorites such as God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The Huron Carol and What Child is This? From dance-like Basque carols, to haunting lullabies, this is Yuletide music at its best.
