Since 1990, Rick has focused his attention on young audiences and has since performed more than a thousand family concerts in schools, theatres and festivals across Canada, the US, Asia and Australia. He has released three best selling family recordings: The Electric Snowshoe (1989) which went gold in 1998, Rick Around the Clock (1992) (which contains his popular rap introduction to Mozart, the Yo Mo Concerto), and the CD Philharmonic Fool (1996) which was nominated for 1996 Juno Award and 1997 Pacific Music Industry Association Award for Best Chidren's album.

Rick is spokesperson for the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. His video of the song Angels Do, celebrating special needs children and starring his granddaughter Mielle, is currently being shown on the Knowledge Network, Rogers Calbe and the Disney Channel. In the early 80's Rick founded the children's series Switchback on CBC Television. He can currently been seen regularly on Fred Penner's Place on CBC TV in Canada and Odyssey TV in the U.S.
