Ric Lafontaine

Ric's first cd ‘the Wind Gone Mad,' released in fall 2000, is regarded by many songwriters and fans to be a benchmark in writing. His music reflects the free and independent spirit of the west coast. His songs paint pictures of stones skipping on the water and of his heroes dancing to the moon.

In the Spring of 2002, Ric released a 2nd cd ' magic garbage can' with his wife and partner, Elly Parker. Inspired by their combined family of 7 children, and 3 grand children, the album is filled with colorful characters learning a few of  life's lessons. Like Ric and Elly, the songs celebrate life in a magical way.

This cd is what Ric hopes to be many cds coming out of his studio at bLUE eCHO music. Entitled 'Ball of Flames' this cd has Ric's thumb prints all over it! Recorded in 3 studios, this recording combines some of his early works with new songs and packages the mosaic in a theme about the element of  'Fire'. There's also an interesting blend of new arrangements mixed with some of the old technology he used in the 90's. This particular cd also includes Ric's love of art in computer graphics.

In celebration of his 3rd release Ric is offering for a limited time all 3 of his recordings for $45US (includes Shipping/Handling). This offering is also available to Vancouver Island Residents in Canadian Funds.

Ric Lafontaine the Wind Gone Mad

Ric Lafontaine has a west coast sound reflecting the free and independent spirit of Vancouver Island. His songs are reminiscent of Cat Stevens but with the flavor of a seasoned fisherman. His music paints pictures of faeries dancing on water and eagles soaring on one wing. Like a weaver, confident of his craft, Ric takes contemporary themes and transforms them into mystical moments. From his minstrel's bag, he pulls out a melody and a word and takes the listener on a magic carpet ride. Skip a stone on the water and then dance to the moon. Take a pilgrimage and spend some moments with this free-spirited storyteller

Ric Lafontaine/ Elly Parker magic garbage can

includes a bonus track of 'Michael' recorded live

A new printing of the sold-out original release with revised printing and graphics **plus** a bonus track of their popular song 'michael' recorded live at River's Edge Studio in Parksville by friend and engineer Dan Lameire.

The ‘magic garbage can’ CD is a milestone for Elly Parker and Ric Lafontaine. Both singer/songwriters were inspired by their combined family of 7 children, and 3 grand children. In the tradition of ‘the Fables of La Fontaine,’ the album is filled with colorful characters faced with some of life’s challenges. Like Ric and Elly, the songs celebrate life in a magical way.
Ric is a driving force in the music scene on Vancouver Island. He co-founded Island Showcase and Nanaimo Songwriters Circle. Many websites, including Cd Isle, were developed by Ric. His cd ‘the Wind Gone Mad,’ reflects the free and independent spirit of this west coast singer/song-scaper. Reminiscent of Cat Stevens, his music paints pictures of faeries dancing on water and eagles soaring on one wing. He is currently working on a compilation series of cds featuring island songwriters.
Elly Parker has a natural talent for reaching into your soul and singing your song. Her love of family and zest for life is more than apparent in her songwriting. Elly’s self-titled cd offers the listener an amazing palette of musical stylings from blues, jazz, and gospel to hints of folk, country, and celtic. Served up on one hot compact disc that only this woman can spin. Her radiant smile, playful nature, and sense of humor, has brought her audiences from Sheffield, England to New Orleans, Louisiana. Her powerful voice has been heard in night clubs, festivals and theatre productions.Elly is currently working on her second album entitled “Lavender Blue.”

REVIEWS

We love that new CD. Its fantastic - start to finish. Ally is particulary partial to 'Dr. Muffin', the elephant song and 'Peggy's on the Go'. I love the 'grumpies' and most of all the rain song. The messages are clear and fun without preaching. Ally is going to be psyched for next live performance - let us know about any dates. Take care. Peter Harris
Your collaborative children's CD is truly MAGIC!

"I wish it was widely available, so children could enjoy their childhoods again in innocence and wonder. The families who can hear and buy a copy are indeed lucky. I can't say enough good things about it, except I want two more copies for the children of a niece and a nephew."
